Sermon from Pastor Brian Peart

The Two Hurts

June 30, 2026Healing Emotional Hurt Through Christ

Message overview

About this message

This video discusses the concept of 'The Two Hurts' and their impact on one's spiritual and personal life. The speaker distinguishes between a 'good hurt' that stems from love—such as the sorrow felt when witnessing loved ones in pain, a hurt that even God experiences—and a 'bad hurt' that arises from unresolved pain, trauma, or sin, often rooted in early life experiences.

The message emphasizes that hiding unresolved hurt leads to dysfunction, negatively affecting relationships and self-perception. The speaker encourages transparency and healing through embracing one's new identity in Christ, letting go of the past, and seeking freedom from shame and self-doubt. Personal anecdotes underscore the power of believing in Christ's work on the cross for true transformation.

Practical advice is given on confronting and releasing old hurts, focusing on the love and identity found in Jesus, and extending compassion both to oneself and others. The sermon concludes with an invitation to lay down old hurts, repent, and walk in the freedom of a new identity in Christ.

Key takeaways

  • There are two types of hurt: one that flows from love and aligns with God's own sorrow, and another that comes from unresolved pain or sin.
  • God experiences grief over humanity's disobedience, illustrating that deep sorrow from love is not dysfunction but an expression of compassion.
  • Unresolved hurt from the past can create negative self-beliefs and hinder spiritual growth; healing comes through laying these hurts at the cross.
  • Embracing your new identity in Christ allows for genuine freedom from guilt, shame, and old patterns, leading to healthier relationships.
  • Transparency and honesty about personal hurts fosters healing; hiding pain keeps one bound, while sharing and confronting it brings freedom.
  • True transformation and lasting change arise from believing and living in what Jesus has accomplished on the cross, rather than striving to be accepted by the world.

Heavenly Father, I thank you so much for um beautiful voices here today. I thank you for everyone coming out today. I thank you for um what you did on that cross, Lord, and how much you love us, Lord. And I just pray now that your spirit will go out in the hearts of everyone here, Lord, and that this just be unbel I pray.

Amen. Thank you, guys. They rock. Thank you for showing up today.

Good job. Good job. Um, church tennis goes down 20% to 25% when it rains. So, um, that's just historical numbers.

I'm not saying anything bad about anybody, but we held up pretty good. We're right around 20 like we normally are. Um, today I'm going to talk about something that's really uh, interesting. Um, because it's it's very deep what I'm going to share.

It really goes to a reality of what we deal with. And uh I just want to encourage you um you know this will be posted by tomorrow. You may want to listen to it a second or a third time to get something that you may have missed this time because there's a lot of stuff today. I'm a fellow journeyman on the journey with you.

I'm not a I'm not preaching. I'm teaching. Okay. Today um because what I'm what I'm about to share speaks to me as much as as you guys.

And I want to ask you to um pray for me. Um you know, just be in prayer for me. Uh pastors fall all the time and it's it's because of pride and and um you can get you can get caught up in in things and and uh I think one of the biggest dangers to people that are even in ministry, anyone, is is you start getting prideful. You start thinking that the stuff that you're learning doesn't apply to you, and it just does.

And um none of us are above getting tripped up. You know, uh me and Gabriel were talking about one of our favorite bands um from the 90s, a Christian band, and two out of those three guys have fallen away. Um and uh only one is still sticking it out there, Toby Max. So that's that's hats off to him.

Um today I'm going to talk about the two hurts. Okay, there are two hurts that we experience in life. one um is is what I'm going to call a good hurt. It flows from love.

Okay? It's it's woven into us by God himself. God himself who's perfect experiences this kind of hurt. Okay?

So if he experiences it, it's it's good. Um it's something that is part of us. This is um and then there's a bad type of hurt, one that comes from unresolved hurt and sin. It's clearly from the devil and it can limit you.

And we're going to dive into these two types of hurts today and and kind of get a an overview of of what they are. And then I'm going to share with you you some things some stuff about your mind that you may not realize that that that plays a part in in your in in everything you're doing. Okay? The good herd flows out of love.

Okay? It's when you see something that uh that's hurting someone that you love. Okay? It hurts your heart when you see a a couple that you love getting divorced or or you know that just bad stuff happening to them.

Um when someone that you love gets hurt or sick. Okay. Um you might love people so much and you look at what's happening out in society and you're like, man, it's just it's just sad. It's just sad what's happening, you know, and and and and it can create a hurt.

or you might have a heart for a people group, you know, um orphans, widows, people in recovery, you may have a heart for that and and and it grieves your heart. That's that's a good type of hurt. We're going to experience we're going to see in a minute that God experiences that. Okay?

It's not dysfunction, it's love. God experiences this kind of hurt. In Genesis 5 uh or Genesis 6 verse five and six it says this. Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

See we think that it's getting so bad now out there. You know the Epstein stuff's coming out and all this bad stuff. But actually world's been bad for a long time. Okay?

Sin's been around for a long time and it's and it's not good. And the Lord was sorry that he had made on the earth and and he was grieved in his heart. Okay, that word grieved speaks of like a deep sorrow. Okay, like a sadness.

Um I look out and and I see and there's things that hurt my heart, okay? Things with my kids or things that go wrong and and and it hurts my heart. Um God loves these people more than I do, right? God's got a perfect love and what we just sung about and and so imagine how his heart's feeling right now.

There are times we're on my knees and I think about how hurt God must be when he sees what's going on and and we don't often think about how our sin can hurt God's heart, but it actually can. You know, we can actually hurt God's heart when we sin. Psalm 78 40 and 41 says this, "How often they provoked him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert." Yes, again and again they tempted God and limited the Holy One of Israel.

Here he was grieved over their disobedience, over the fact that they were um sinning and willfully sinning against God. And and it hurts his heart. In Psalm 51, David says, "Against you and you alone, I have sinned." Right?

When we sin, we sin against God. We may have hurt another person, but we really sinned against God. Okay? And I'm not sharing this to to get anyone to feel bad about anything.

That's not the the purpose. What I want you to see is that hurts God's heart. God's heart is love towards us. Okay?

He loves us. It's not dysfunction. He loves us. Um, people think the Old Testament is all like laws and rules and God was mean back then, but now the New Testament, God's, you know, all loveydovey.

And, um, the truth is God's the same. He was love in the Old Testament and he's love now. Okay? He's the same.

Um, let's go to some New Testament things. John 11, uh, let's see, 33-35. Um, this is when Lazarus was risen from the dead. Okay, this is an interesting blip blip here.

So Jesus loved Lazarus. He loved the family, okay? And and he gets told that, "Hey, Lazarus is dying." And he tries a couple days before he goes.

And by the time he gets there, Lazarus is dead. Okay? And so here's the scene. He's coming up on the scene where everyone's weeping and crying over over Lazarus being dead.

And it says, "Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who came with her weeping, he groaned in his spirit and was troubled. And he said, "Where have you laid him?" He groaned in his spirit. Why was he why was he groaning in his spirit right there?

Because people he loved were weeping. He's about to raise this person from the dead, but it still hurt his heart. And he knew that would probably bring him joy, but it still hurt his heart that they were crying, that they were weeping. He was sad about that.

That's how much he loves us. Then the next verse is is the shortest sentence in the Bible. Jesus wept. Just two words.

Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, "See how he loved him." They could see how much he loved Lazarus, but they didn't realize he was weeping even in his groaning in his spirit over over just the people that were crying. Okay?

And yes, he's about to raise from the dead, but he still he doesn't want us sad. He wants us to have joy. Okay? Um and it can't be found in this world, man.

It just can't. There's only one source for it, and it's and it's Jesus. Luke 19:41. This is his triumphal entry.

He's on a donkey. He's coming into Jerusalem. Um people are throwing down palm trees and everything. And it says here in Luke 19:41, "Now, as he drew near, he saw the city and he wept over it."

Okay, again, Jesus weeping over the sin that he's seeing in the city and everything that's happening there. So God sees suffering his heart. It hurts his heart. Um, and there are times where I just I I just I sense that God's heart is hurt over all this stuff that he's seeing.

And we wonder when's he when he's he going to come and and make it right. It's soon. It's soon. But but it's it just because it's time, not because it's all of a sudden worse than it was.

It's just sin is out there and it hurts God's heart. Um, and we have to understand that if we love, we will hurt. There will be things that hurt. Okay?

someone we love will die. It's just going to happen. It's part of life. Somebody that we love will slip up and fall back.

Okay? And and that's a good kind of hurt. Yes, it hurts, but it's it's from love. So So they can't be bad.

Okay? But there's another kind of hurt, and that's one that comes from dysfunction. And that's one from that comes from when things have happened in your past, bad things have happened in your past. Okay?

and they create an inner thought process about who you are and what you are and you begin to believe that. And a lot of times it starts in childhood. Okay. Um and if you're not careful, if you don't take care of it, it's going to create long-term issues because deep down in in your heart, you're not believing what Jesus says about you.

You're believing this lie. Okay? Maybe your parents got divorced and and you're hearing them fighting and you think that maybe you're the cause of that. pain and you start to believe that you're uh someone who who who who's not worthy, okay?

Or or even more traumatic, maybe you were abused physically or mentally and somewhere in your little mind, you begin to believe that that that you know you're bad or there's something wrong with you and and that you're not important. Okay? Or maybe you got bullied at school. You know, cyber bullying is a big thing now.

Okay? You got teased. People started talking about who you are and you began to believe what these people were saying about you instead of believing what Jesus says about you. Okay?

Most people are hurt. Okay? Most people are hurt. Statistics say 90% of this room has a deep hurt that they still have to deal with in some way, shape, or form.

Okay? And there is only one source for healing that hurt. It's Jesus Christ. Okay?

We've got to take it to him and lay it down. So, there's different ways that people deal with it. So, when when you have that hurt and you're young, there's different ways we hide it. We cover it up.

Okay? One is a mask. We will we'll act differently. Okay?

Act as if that was the the tact I chose. I was going to be successful businessman and I that's what I became. Okay? It was a covering up a deep hurt that I didn't deal with.

And you can you can strive to that. People will do it in in uh ministry. They'll dive into ministry and they're doing so much ministry and they're just trying to stay busy. Okay?

They're trying to stay busy so that they don't have to deal with the deep hurt. They're trying to hide it. They don't want to deal with it. Um and they never let anyone into the hurt.

They create a mask and they hide. Um couples could be married for 30 years and never really talk about the deep hurt. Instead, they get, you see this all the time, they're the kids are their life and they're running around like crazy, okay? They're trying to stay active.

They're trying to stay busy. They don't want to sit there in the silence and listen because then the hurt's going to come up. Okay? And then they're they're they're and then they have to deal with it.

Okay? So, what happens is they they hide it with activity. And that's why you'll see a couple after the kids leave, they they divorce after all those years because their life they never really got together. Okay?

Okay, their life was really just about those kids, but it really they both have hurt. Okay. Um, many people project an image. Pastors, man, the reason they fall so much is because the world sees them one way, okay?

They see them one way. I promise you, I am no better than anyone in this room. I'm not. And and but I mean, I've been out and people are like, "Oh, let me buy your lunch, pastor, for all you do."

And I'm like, I'm just a guy, you know, like like I'm I'm I'm I'm not I'm not Pastor Brian, you know? It's just it's just it's still weird to me. Um but but but but that's what happens is is you can get that's why I asked you to pray because you can get prideful. Okay.

Many people project an image. And that's one way that we hide. But there are other ways people keep people out of the deep hurt. Okay?

If you're a control freak, okay, if you've been called a control freak, it's possible you're doing you're trying to keep managing your stuff so that no one gets to talk to that deep hurt. Okay. Um, you can manipulate relationships, keep them very face value. Okay?

There's a lot of talk now about narcissists. You know, you hear all this stuff, everyone's a narcissist now. Okay? Um, you know, you see it.

And so, you know, a couple has a fight and they go online and all of a sudden she's reading that her husband's a narcissist and he's reading that she's a narcissist and everyone's a narcissist. But all narcissism is is a hurt person who's using the tools of narcissism to protect that deep hurt. They defer. They deflect.

They didn't even deny that they did anything wrong. They spin it around so that it's not their fault. It was your fault. It's called gaslighting.

Okay? These are just tools. They're not bad people. But what's happening is they're hiding a pain.

Okay? And that pain, if they don't deal with it, will trip up their relationships because like attracts like. And so when you keep it in the dark, the devil can still mess with you if you don't let people know about it. Okay?

Then the devil can sit there and say, "Hey, you know, when every time you slip up, and you're gonna slip up, you know, see you did it again, man. you're no good. You're a loser just like you, you know, just like your brother, just like your whatever. You know, the thing is a key litmus test is this.

And I and I'm asking you to think in your heart, okay? And and and we were talking about during communion to try to really think about about your life and stuff. Can you talk about your past? Okay?

Because if you can't talk about your past, the things you've done wrong in the past, the hurts that you experienced in your past, then it's still bothering you on some level. It's still there. And if you don't take it into the light, it will trip you up. Okay?

Um there's a piece of it. As long as it's hidden, it will trip you up. I want to give you an example so that you can kind of understand that this is so common, you don't even realize it. Okay?

Um there's a little girl, beautiful girl, and her dad bails, leaves, never comes back. Okay? So, she's stuck um in a house with a struggling single mom and she believes now because this man who was supposed to be the person who loves her the most, you know, left. So now that little girl believes that she's not worthy of a man's love.

Okay? Somewhere inside this deep thing grew to where she doesn't feel she's worthy. But now she doesn't say that. She's nice to everyone.

She's the homecoming queen. Everyone likes her because she's putting on a mask. She wants everyone to like her. Okay.

But really, she's deep down hurting inside. And no one wants to stay that way. So, of course, she wants to get married and have children. She's pretty.

She gets married. She has a child. And then she starts coming up with reasons why she has to leave that person. And she leaves them.

Okay. Um, it could be she cheats or she does whatever, but she leaves that person and gets back to struggling single mom, which is where she grew up, which is where her her comfort zone is. And it doesn't matter. She tries a second time marriage, the same thing, different destruction, but still the same result.

She ultimately ends up back struggling single mom. And this story repeats over things over and over and over again. And she's not really for anyone to marry because she eventually will sabotage that back to there. And and and this goes for anything.

If you're clinging to some old identity, okay, God has made a way to vanquish these hurts once and for all, okay? It's the cross. The cross has the power to heal. The Holy Spirit can come into you.

Now you got God loving living inside of you. It's a rebirth. It's a new creation. All the sin is gone, man.

It's gone. you don't have to carry it anymore. All right? But if you don't embrace that new identity and you continue to cling to that old identity, you will get tripped up.

Okay? It's inevitable that that that something will come up. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. Old things have passed away.

Behold, all things are new." You have to walk in this new creation of that you are. You're not your past anymore. And and once you really understand that you're a new creation and your past doesn't matter, now you can talk about it because it's not scary because you're not that person anymore.

Okay? You can talk about it. But if you can talk about it, then there are other people that are struggling in the same area and you can be a light to them. Okay?

Someone who has struggled coming out of recovery can speak more to someone who's in recovery than someone like me who's never dealt with it. Okay? And and that's not saying I can't preach or I can't teach. It's just it's just reality.

Okay? Um I can't understand fully some of the things that some people are going through because I haven't gone through them. But I have a heart for them. I love them and and anything I can do.

But this affects everybody. There's no one who's clean of this, including preacher boy up here. Okay? We've got to walk in our new identity and put the old one away.

So, if you find yourself still with a negative soft self-t talk, still repeating negative things about yourself, you got to put that stuff aside. Realize that you still have something that's in your heart and you've got to deal with it. You've got to take it and you've got to lay it down. Okay?

What Jesus did on the cross was serious business, man. It's serious business. He took it all away. You, if you can really grasp that, truly embrace what he did, it's incredibly powerful.

Okay? If you have to read that 2 Corinthians 5:17 every day. All right? A little psychology for you.

Okay? God made our minds, okay? Um and unconscious mind, subconscious mind. Okay, the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between truth and fiction.

It it will believe what you tell it if you repeat it over and over again. Okay? And the way your minds work is your conscious mind which sees around you and your subconscious mind how you believe deep about you. They want equilibrium.

Okay? So, so if you're born into poverty, but in your subconscious mind you begin to believe that you're going to be wealthy, you're wealthy, wealthy, wealthy, you will eventually come out of poverty and make it there. There's lots of rags to riches stories. This isn't something I made up.

This isn't new new whatever. There's lots of those stories. And the same thing if your outer circumstances become better than what your inner life is. That's what happened to that that girl that I just talked about.

Okay? She ended up married with children in with the little house, everything that she always wanted. But deep down she still felt she was struggling single mom and she worked to bring her life back in line with what she felt deep down in her heart. Okay?

And that's what happens to people if they don't embrace who God says they are now, the beauty that they say they are now. If they don't take this thing and lay it down and let God really heal it, then there's a chance they're going to slip up because like attracts like. You're going to attract people that are hurting if you're hurting. Okay?

And if you can get healthy, you'll attract healthy people. And that's just kind of how it works. It's it's it's how our minds work. And so, you can embrace the new creation in Christ and begin to walk that way.

Okay? You don't have to stay mired in the pig pen. Um, and then, but are you gonna slip up? Sure.

But when you do, you take it to God. God, I'm sorry, man. I did it again. I goofed up again.

Gosh. You know, I'm sorry. It's a different vibe than the what the devil's going to throw at you with guilt and shame. It's man, I messed up again.

Focus on Jesus. Read your scriptures. Start with John. It's it's great.

The love chapters, you know, and and get to know Jesus, who you are. That's who you are now. You are his child. Okay?

The quicker you embrace your new identity, the quicker you will change your life. my my uh mentor, Bill Prince, he uh his father was an alcoholic and by the time he was 14, he had no parental people around and by the time he was 14, he's in bars every night, you know, getting in fights, drinking and getting in fights at 14, he was a scrapper, okay? Um he uh but he had his eye on this girl, okay, that was in the town, small town in South Carolina, I think.

And uh but she was a good girl and she was not going to go out with him unless he went to church. And so he uh for months tried to convince her to just go out with him, you know, bad boy image, you know, come on, you know, come out with me. Wouldn't work. Finally, one Sunday after having been drunk and in a fight the night before, he comes into church, you know, and God got all over him.

Okay. He realized he unders his teeth and and just crying out to God and he stood up from that altar and he was a new man. He believed what Jesus did on the cross. He believed it in his heart was true and he began to walk in that truth.

He never drank another drop of alcohol. Never again. He just stood up a new man. He went into work the next day, Monday, and he goes, "Boys, a new man's in front of you."

Okay? And from that moment on, he just stayed straight and true. He He because he believed that what Jesus did really was what Jesus did. He actually took God at his word and he changed everything.

He married that girl and they were married for 50 years until until he passed away a couple years ago. Okay. Grandkids, whatever. There's thousands of people in in uh heaven because of that cat.

And uh Our first Sunday we were here, we had like 70 people. When I looked back, about half of those people, we could trace the roots of how they knew me back to Bill Prince's Sunday school class at Summit Baptist Church. Um, and so he had an incredible ministry. He just simply believed what Jesus did.

You don't have to clean yourself up to get good enough to be loved by God. You're already clean if you accept what he did. Okay, if you're still clinging to the old, trying to straddle both worlds, that's not going to work. He um he never went back into those bars with those guys.

But over the years, he was able to lead half of those guys to the Lord. Not because he went and joined them, but because he started living that way. And as their lives train wrecked, they'd come to him and he was able to teach them about Jesus and and um change their world, change their life, change their destiny. Man, when you ask Jesus in your heart, you're going to heaven, bro.

That's nice. You know, and so if you have been saved, okay, and you truly begin to walk with Jesus, you will lose some friendships. They will fall away. It's gonna happen, okay?

And it's okay if you're out there trying to make everyone like you. You can't be a soldout follower of Christ and have everyone in the world like you. They the two don't mix. Okay?

They just don't. I've got a good friend. He's he's he's um probably my best friend and we haven't spoken in almost a year, okay? Um he he was going through a divorce.

He was in a horrible marriage and me and him were talking every all the time and he's really into the Lord and he's really whatever and then and then he gets um and then they get a divorce and while he's going through the divorce, we're talking probably three times a week, okay? We're always there for each other. I've known him for 40 years. And when he got out, I said, "Listen, bro, don't date."

Okay? Take a year. Don't date. Heal.

Talk to God. get the vertical right before you go to the horizontal. And he didn't listen and he started dating. Okay?

Fell for this girl. Bro, don't sleep with her, man. Okay? You got to you got to get it right this way.

She's the horizontal creation cannot fix the hole in the heart. Okay? Only Jesus can. And so now, you know, she's become an idol essentially.

And how do I know that? Because I did the same thing in my second marriage. Okay? I'm not better than him.

Okay. I did the same thing. I put my second my second wife on a pedestal. Okay?

Because she was feeling a hurt that I had that that I didn't even know I had at the time. All right? So So don't think you're above it because it can it can affect you. Okay?

Um and and and you've got to take it out and lay it down at the cross and and let Jesus really heal. You don't reject your friends. Don't walk away from your friends. But but if you start living the way Jesus has called us to live, some people won't be able to hang out with you.

Okay? He's not talk. I I still call him. I still leave messages and stuff.

He just doesn't call back because he doesn't want to deal with the conviction of of what he's done. Okay? And the problem is is she I I with him with me. If someone created is is helping that hurt and that hurt, then then you're not healthy.

And you've got to get healthy because it will trip you up. My the inner and the outer always want to match. The happiest time in my life was 1998 to 2004 because during those years I was exactly who in my mind I thought I would be. Successful married Christian businessman.

I had kids. I had a family. I had a little house. It was it was it was exactly who in my mind I wanted to be.

But I still had a hurt and so did the woman that I was attracted to who because like attracts like. And eventually now we were happy. We weren't joyful. Why were we happy?

Everything was going our way. Okay. Then 2008 hits and other things and all of a sudden it's not things aren't going your way anymore. That's when the real stuff comes up.

Okay. I'm more joyful now. I was happy there, but I'm more joyful now. The the the he the hurt is gone.

Okay. I can have healthy relationships and it's good. But but man, that hurt can still be there. Um and and I just want to sh some things like be honest with yourself.

Okay? We are all friends on a journey. Be honest with deep down the hurts or the whatever. Look at the way you act.

Are you always trying to to be busy so that you're never alone? Can you not? This cracks me up. teenagers, they can't sit in a car for even a five minute drive with no music.

Like, drives nuts, man. It's hilarious. And um and it's because they don't want to be alone with those thoughts. Okay.

Are you actively trying all the time? I love sitting alone and thinking, but but you have to be okay with what's happening down there. Do you end up in the same place over and over again? Do you slip up again and again and again in the same way?

Okay, that means there's a deep hurt there. Take care of that. Fix that. Okay, once that fixed and and how do you fix it?

You focus on Jesus. You focus on Jesus and believe what he says about you, not what this little voice deep down says about you. That voice is no longer there. It's gone.

It only has credence if you give it to him. Take it away. Lay it down. That shame is no longer yours.

It's gone. It's dead. Okay? But you have to walk in it and believe it.

If there's a part of you that doesn't I'll never forget I came to one of those Wednesday night things where they're giving out the the the chips for how how many uh how how long you've been whatever and and I was talking to a girl sober and I I was talking to a girl out there and she goes this is the fifth time or fourth time I've I've recommitted it but she said but this time it's different because I finally forgiven myself. Okay. So so you you gota you got to put it aside man. God forgave you.

Don't keep clinging to it. Don't click. It's gone, man. It's gone.

Okay? You are born again in Christ. Don't deceive yourself that thinking that you're not. If you're a people pleaser, that's a sign you might be still trying to straddle the fence.

Don't just don't do it. Just focus on God and please him. Okay? You can't be 100% in love with Jesus and 100% of the world embracing you.

It doesn't work that way. Okay? And so don't deceive yourself. Acknowledge that there's a hurt and then bring it to the cross.

Okay? And repent and lay it down and be free. Step up to freedom. There's freedom in that forgiveness.

It's freedom. Who doesn't want to be free? And yet we if we cling to that past and we cling to our old self, we're we're choosing to keep ourselves bound in chains instead of walking in the freedom that God gave us when he died on that cross and took all our sins away. It's and if don't make excuses for your behavior.

Don't don't whatever. Get real with yourself and say, "Man, you know what, God? I do have a deep hurt. I didn't I'm still hurting down here, God.

And and get down on your knees and and just ask him to heal it. Ask him to heal it. Tell him you're sorry for not believing him in what he did and not and not accepting really your new identity. Be be real about that and and lay it down.

Okay? You can't be fully identified with Christ and fully loved by the world if you have a deep hurt. You're still in bondage and you've got to lay it down and let it let it go. Okay?

It's the only way. Next week, we're going to talk about guard rails you can put up. But right now, this day, you've got to choose. Are you going to walk like Jesus?

Are you going to embrace what he says about you? that you're fearfully and wonderfully made, that you're a new creation, that you are a heir or co-air with Christ, that you are his precious child. Are you going to walk in that and choose that? Are you going to choose to try to still be the peopleleasing person over here?

Or you going to still try to cling to that old identity that doesn't even exist anymore, except you're still clinging to it. Okay? You got to let it go, man. You got to let it go.

We talked last week about the new identity. This is it. You've got to lay it down. So, choose this day whom you will be.

Will you be a servant of the Lord or will you be that old person that that that that you don't even want to know, but still sitting there because you're embracing that past? Okay. Got to let it go. Um, and so I want to challenge everyone here as the the team comes up.

Um, I want to challenge you to embrace your identity. Okay? Um, don't be prideful. Be careful.

Be careful of pride. When things are going your way, you can tend to think that you don't have any issues. You do. Okay?

You re It's very likely you do. Okay? Again, 90% chance that that people are hurting right in this room. Okay?

Um and and that's the same of every church in America and everyone who's sitting online right now watching this. Okay? You can hide it your whole life. Marriages have been married for 30 years and they hide it the whole lives.

They never deal with the real. But but there's so much freedom in not having that hurt anymore. And truly believing that you're no longer that person anymore. And truly believing that you are who God says you are.

There's so much freedom in that. I want to challenge you today to to embrace that. If you haven't asked Jesus into your heart, I pray that you will come forward today and do that. Um, I will be right here.

I will pray with you. If you've if you've been if something today has pricked your heart where you just know that you know that there's still some pain down here, okay, I pray that you'll bring it up and lay it down and repent. of still dragging the old when you're already done with that old. Okay?

And and and just be very very mindful of who God is and walk in that freedom. I want lay it down, repent, and then stand up and walk in that freedom. Leave here a free person because you laid it down once and for all. And and and we'll talk next week how to stay that way.

But but for now, man, you are a new identity in Christ if you asked him into your heart. Walk in it. Believe it. Bill Prince believed it and he never went back, okay?

And he led a 50 year life of I would call greatness, okay? Um not perfect, okay? But unbelievable fruit. And so, um let me pray over you guys.

Heavenly Father, Lord, I Lord, I hope that the the messenger clearly conveyed the message. Lord, I just pray that um you move in the hearts of these people that I love so much here. >> Um Lord, and that and that you help them rise up to who they've been called, Lord. And that if if there's anything that's hindering them, they lay it down now and they rise up and again.

Lord, I just pray that now. I pray that your Holy Spirit will break out in this room now. We love you, Lord, and we praise you. Move now in this time, Lord, in Jesus name.

Amen.
