I was at a Men’s Bible Study this past Tuesday and seated at a table with a bunch of guys…and I was in a conversation with one of them. I felt prompted to ask him, “What’s God doing in your life?” He told me that he felt that he was in a season and that God was preparing him for something, but he is not sure yet what that something is. What a wonderful place to be! And his answer told me all I needed to know about his salvation- he is seeking the Lord, and he is saved. No need for me to witness to him, just be an encourager. The fact that the Lord is actively working in him is proof that the Holy Spirit is in him. Praise the Lord!
This question is a great question to ask someone who claims to be a Christian. You see,
lots of people “identify” as Christians, but are they? If they are, the Holy Spirit should be
working in them. There should be areas of conviction, areas where God is clearly working in their life. They should be able to answer the question with specifics on what God is doing in their life. God should be real, present, working on things, and growing you up into the next thing that He has for you. If you let Him, if you let the Holy Spirit work in your life, God WILL grow you to be more like Jesus. He wants us holy, not happy. It is called the Holy Spirit, not the “happy spirit”. Allowing the Holy Spirit to work in you and to grow you to be more like Jesus is a lifestyle. And Galatians 5:22-24 tells us what the result of this lifestyle will be, “ the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
Did you catch that last part, often overlooked? We are to crucify our fleshly passions and
desires. The lust of the flesh IS bondage. And Christ has come to set us free. But we must lay it down, one by one, laying our sins down. It is a process called sanctification. It doesn’t save you; you are already saved. But now it is time to put away childish things with the help of the Holy Spirit and to walk as you have been called. We will be discussing this in depth at church this Sunday, and it is an IMPORTANT lesson- you won’t want to miss it. Hope to see you there- 900 Cripple Creek Dr., Lawrenceville, GA. P.S. Some sins are easy to put away. But some are what we call “strongholds,” and they take diligence and a lot of help from Jesus. But the Bible DOES give us a path to overcome these areas and move into a time of freedom. This Sunday we will go in depth into that battle to cast down the strongholds in our lives that are keeping us bound up. I strongly encourage you to come this Sunday- you won’t want to miss it. If you don’t have a church home and you are within an hour of Lawrenceville, I encourage you to check out our little church. You will feel the love the minute you walk in the door. There truly is no other church quite like it. Check us out, 10:30 on Sunday morning at 900 Cripple Creek Dr., Lawrenceville. It will encourage and
grow you, and you will feel loved! So come this Sunday! If you can’t make it, log in to our YouTube channel, @TheGreatAwarenessChurch, as we live stream it every Sunday as well. Hope to see you this Sunday at 10:30. Be blessed!
