The devil has a simple plan… get your focus OFF of Jesus. He does it through false religions, through guilt and shame, through deception, and through “busy-ness”. If he can keep the focus on ourselves, and off of Jesus, he can lead us astray, keep us bound and ineffective as Christians. That is why we MUST keep our eyes on Jesus.
Jesus’s death and resurrection defeated death and the devil, and as we put our faith and trust in Him, the Holy Spirit, God Himself, moves into our hearts. We have God in us! WHAT??? We are co-heirs of Christ (Romans 8:17), and we are seated with Christ in the heavenlies (Ephesians 2:6). In Christ, we can do everything. Without Christ, we can do nothing, according to Jesus Himself in John 15. Jesus is the power source of the Christian. The devil knows it, so he tries to get the focus off of Jesus and onto ourselves or anything else. Ever notice that you can say “God,” and no one gets angry, but if you say “Jesus”, you may get hit with an attack. The devil and his demons hate the name of Jesus, because Jesus has authority over them. In Mathew 28:18, Jesus says, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.” ALL means ALL. That means the devil has none.
So why does the devil still find a way in? How do we still get messed with sometimes in our flesh and in sin? That is what we will be studying this week at church. It is a CRITICAL lesson that EVERY believer needs to hear. We will go over the many ways the devil deceives us and go over our true weapons of war, the true power source of the Christian faith. Our standing in heaven and the power to live now all come down to one thing-Jesus. It is ALL about Jesus.
